Yes, La Tortillería corn tortillas are safe for children with nut or egg allergies. Our production kitchen is 100% free from these major allergen ingredients.
This allergen-free environment applies to every product we manufacture, from our fresh tortillas to our crunchy totopos.
Allergen-Free Production Standards
Our production kitchen is 100% free from major allergen ingredients such as gluten, nuts, soy, seafood, dairy, and eggs. This rigorous standard ensures that there is no risk of cross-contamination, making our products a reliable choice for school lunchboxes where allergy safety is paramount.
Simple Traditional Ingredients
We use a minimal ingredient list consisting only of stone-ground corn and sea salt for our tortillas. By avoiding the chemical bleaches and artificial preservatives often found in mass-produced corn wraps in Australian supermarkets, we offer a clean-label alternative that avoids hidden allergen triggers.
Maintaining Lunchbox Texture
When we stone-grind our corn fresh each day rather than using instant masa harina, we create a superior, traditional texture. Customers at our Kensington tortilleria often ask about maintaining this quality for school; we recommend using a tight-fitting container to keep them soft and floppy.
The Blue Corn Alternative
Our Blue Corn Tortillas offer a nutrient-dense alternative and are equally free from nuts and eggs. These are almost impossible to find elsewhere in Australia and provide a visually striking, earthy addition to a child’s lunchbox.
Dietary Certifications and Safety
Our tortillas are certified vegan, non-GMO, and are rated Green for low FODMAP diets by Monash University. While these products suit many restrictive diets, always consult a GP or registered dietitian regarding specific medical dietary requirements for your child.
Finding Authentic Tortillas in Australia
Finding authentic, allergen-free masa products is genuinely hard in Australia. You can purchase our range from our store, via our online shop, or through a variety of selected independent retailers.
